Jewel

An award-winning full Peruvian and the only white offspring of 40 offspring by 5Peruvian Chinchero, a true black herdsire imported from the Maychapampa herd in Peru, Jewel is no ordinary white alpaca! Her dam, Marcela, produced the famous grey herdsire Silver Dollar, and the well respected fawn herdsire, Show Me the Money. Jewel’s pedigree literally sparkles with quality and color. She has full coverage, great density and, according to show judge Mary Reed, “her handle is like butter it’s so soft”. A fine foundation female with heavy bone, excellent conformation and wonderful mothering abilities, Jewel produced a fawn daughter out of Ppperuvian Accoyo Yupanqui, the number one pick of the 1996 importation, who has produced multiple ribbon winners in a whole rainbow of colors. She produced another female cria with award-winning maroon herdsire Thistledown’s Romeo, so impressive that she was sold before she was weaned! She and true black herdsire PC Peruvian Knightrider produced an awesome brown full Peruvian cria in 2006 who went on to earn many blues in halter and performance classes. In 2007 she gave us a gorgeous fawn male, Tobias, out of true black Knight of Camelot.  Toby took a blue in his first appearance in the show ring as a juvenile.  In 2008 Jewel delivered a beautiful white female cria, a clone of her mother, with Jewel’s density and crimp. Brianna starts her show career this summer.  In 2009 she gave us a handsome full Peruvian dark brown male out of Snowmass Black Diamond.Awards:3rd of 9 Juvenile halter: 2001 Santa Fe Show5th of 8 Yearling halter: TxOlan show2nd Light Fleece: 2006 ABC show

Sabrina 2

Sabrina

Sabrina is a big, sturdy Mom of an alpaca! She’s an easy keeper - doesn’t spit or kick.  She has inherited the fiber quality, growth rate and character of her Peruvian sire, NWA, Ltd Leo, and her grandsire, Accoyo Peruvian Leon. She is the richest dark chocolate or coffee color you have ever seen. Her dam is a true black Chilean import, with great density and sheen, an attractive presence and compact body style. Sabrina is an excellent mother with an abundance of milk - literally running down her leg when she was feeding Angus, her first cria. In 2003 she produced a true black cria out of an award-winning maroon herdsire and in 2004 a bay black female with a champion silver-grey herdsire. Her 2006 cria is a bay black/rose grey male with a white face who sold as a herdsire.  Her spring 2007 cria, Kingston, is a medium brown boy who looks just like her, but with a softer fleece and his sire’s wonderful personality.  He sold as a juvenile. Her 2008 cria is Sinbad, a smokey brown male sired by Sin City who is a sweet boy with dense crimpy fleece.  We can count on Sabrina to give us healthy crias with color so we are free to pick breeding partners for their fleece characteristics.  Awards:3rd fleece: 2001 EVAA show5th Produce of Dam: 2005 Virginia Classic2nd dark fleece: 2006 ABC show

Pinka

Pinka 2

Pinka has the longest fleece imaginable - it’s as if there weren’t enough room on her little body for all that fleece! And it’s not just her re-growth rate that’s amazing. The softness and wonderful tight curly lock structure are to die for! Her fleece won her a blue ribbon and a red ribbon in competition. Pinka is the daughter of Toe Dancer and Acero Marka’s La Paz, a gorgeous fawn herdsire. Pinka’s first cria was a beautiful white daughter with one dark brown spot on her knee out of dark coffee-colored, AOBA blue ribbon winner Clipper in 2003. She gave us our first cria in 2005, Misha, a white from a dark brown sire. Our second cria from Pinka is from our own sire Donovan, and is an incredibly soft beige with a spot of Donnie’s brown fleece. Pinka is shown in full fleece in the top picture. Since we always get so many compliments on the yarn from her fleece, we sent in the 2006 shearing sample for testing. At 6 1/2 years of age, Pinka’s fleece has these impressive measurements: AFD 25.4 microns, SD 3.7!, CV 14.6.

Felix granddaughter!  We chose Glad as a maiden to join our breeding herd and bred her in the Fall 2004. She is light fawn in color and a very sturdy girl. She took a first place at the ABC Heritage show in April ‘04, a second place in halter and the blue ribbon in obstacle class handled by a 12 year old at the Great Frederick Fair in September 04. As curious as a cat, she always knows what’s going on around the farm! Amazingly easy birth of her first cria in October 2005 with high IgG and lots of milk confirmed our hopes for this earth mother. Her second cria for us is an incredibly soft, dense and crimpy boy named Griffin out of sire Cordero. Bred with a rose grey, she produced an indefinite.  Fiinally, she delivered a female cria, by our dark rose grey Marcel.  Francesca is a gorgeous brown with the fiber the shearer described as the softest she has ever felt. Glad allows the best of the sire’s qualities to come through with breedings.    ”Big Glad” has definitely earned her keep around here!                              Awards:1st halter: 2004 ABC Show    2nd halter: 2004 Great Frederick Fair      1st Performance: 2004 Great Frederick Fair       3rd light fleece: 2006 ABC show

PacaBelle 3

PacaBelle 2

PacaBelle is really the queen of this farm! Personality, looks and smarts in spades! She is the ideal that we are striving for in our breeding program. PacaBelle is the first cria from her true black herdsire, Knight of Camelot from Alpacas of Sunset Fields and her maroon dam, Lanark’s Latte. She inherited the best features of her parents, with Camelot’s beautiful face and great conformation. Her dam is an easy breeder and an excellent mother with lots of milk, nice fiber and conformation, and heavy bone. PacaBelle’s fiber is very fine, yet dense, with crimp and nice lock structure. 2006 micron AFD 23.0 SD 4.3 All of our expectations for PacaBelle have been fulfilled. She is a multiple ribbon winner, the farm social chairman.  She gave us a beautiful medium brown girl out of our rose grey sire, Kinross.  Her name is Wildwood’s Autumn Spice and has started earning her ribbons in the halter ring already.  Her second cria was another female, a brown with black tips from our true black Jasper Black.  Awards:1st of 6 Juvenile halter: 2005 ABC show3rd Composite: 2005 MAPACA Jubilee5th yearling halter: 2006 Virginia Classic1st Spin Off: 2007 Alpaca Western Extravaganza2nd Spin Off: 2007 Virginia Classic6th fleece: 2006 MAPACA Jubilee6th fleece: 2007 MAPACA Jubilee

MFI Carinthia 2

Carinthia and her summer 2005 cria Betty White add their density and fineness to the Wildwood herd. Carinthia took first place and the Color Championship at the Futurity in 2003 and took the blue in her fawn class at MaPaca in 2004. She is a granddaughter of Peruvian el Moustachio and her fleece is a lustrous dark fawn, very even throughout. Carinthia is an easy birther and good mother although not overly maternal.  She just always gives us healthy dense crias on time and without intervention.  You can’t beat that!  She gave us a beautiful 2007 spring cria out of Dom Lucilio, a fawn male named Luc’s Spittin Image, due to the uncanny resemblance to his sire.  He is a multiple champion and ready to start his breeding career.  Her 2008 cria, Clarence, is a beige male with dense crimpy fleece and a great personality.  A beige female by true black Knight of Camelot is her 2009 spring cria.  Whenever we breed Carinthia to a true black, we get a white or beige.  For 2010, she is bred to Bodacious, a fawn.Awards:1st of 13 dark fawn yearling halter: 2004 MAPACA Jubilee1st and Color Champion: 2003 Futurity Breeders Choice4th Produce of Dam: 2009 Virginia Classic

_bettywhitefullfleece.jpg

Great Genetics!! Betty White is a white offspring of the famous true black Peruvian Black Mesquite, whose breedings are severely limited. Her dam MFI Carinthia is a dark fawn, Futurity champion and MaPaca winner. Betty has silky fine fleece and plenty of it. Amazing density! She is easily handled, especially curious and fun to have on the farm. She has competed very well against pure whites despite her dark genetics.

Kammie

We were so impressed with Kammie we bought her as a cria. She couldn’t be anything but gorgeous with her striking maroon dam and her handsome sire with the most admired head in Virginia! Kammie’s dense and lustrous fleece, combined with white markings on her face, feet and neck add to her perfect conformation to make the whole package! She went into the ring a week after becoming six months old and showed confidence, presence and personality. Judges praise her as a sturdy, solid female who will be a great breeder. Kammie is currently bred to Kinross for a spring 2010 cria.

Baroness delivered a lustrous, black female cria in June 2007 sired by Double “O” Good’s black color champion, Dark Knight. In 2008 she delivered a gorgeous black female sired by Double “O” Good’s Act II Knight Rider. “Nessie” is making major upgrades to our herd all by herself.  She is bred again to Knight Rider for a 2010 cria.

Spice is the long awaited first cria of our resident queen, PacaBelle. We fell in love with and bought PacaBelle when she was just a cria. An earlier attempt to breed her was unsuccessful so we waited till she was over 2 years old to try again. Our own rose grey Kinross was chosen for the honors so he could add his fabulous staple length and color genetics to PB’s amazing soft-handled fleece. We were delighted to welcome Spice to the herd - she is not as dark as her dam but every bit as soft. She has exquisite dark grey mascara’ed eyes so who knows what she’ll produce when her time comes? She has been approachable right from the start so is already a visitor’s favorite just like her mom.  She is currently bred to our own Luc’s Spittin Image.Awards:1st and Reserve Champion shorn halter: 2009 Blue Ridge Classic2nd Bred and Owned: 2009 Virginia Classic5th Yearling Halter: 2009 Carolina Alpaca Celebration5th Bred and Owned: 2009 VAOBA Expo6th of 9 yearling halter: 2009 VAOBA Expo
